Fishman, 4.5kW Solar Grid Tie, Carpinteria, California

After their children were both off to college, the Fishmans traded in their hectic LA lives to build their dream home in Carpinteria, with a breathtaking ocean view. They purchased a small aging home and made massive renovations, including the addition of a 4.5 kW solar array to offset their electric bill. Permitting is an exacting process in Santa Barbara county, so in addition to the standard technical review, the solar array had to pass an architectural review to ensure the installation would not harm the local environment, or mar the view for neighbors or tourists. It took a lot of time and effort, but the Fishmans are now living in their dream home, happy in the knowledge that they are saving money and helping to create less pollution.
