Pat and Bruce Miller are long time anti-nuclear advocates who have been living near - and purchasing power from - the Diablo Nuclear Power Plant owned by PG+E since it opened in 1985. Before California enacted laws regarding net metering, interconnection and self generation, they had no choice. Then in 2003 they installed a grid tied Photovoltaic (Solar Electric) system consisting of 18 Sharp 165W Photovoltaic modules and a Sharp Sunvista Inverter. They have had a negative balance on their electric bill ever since - which means they are meeting 100% of the power requirements for their own home, which includes the couple and three teenagers, with the excess flowing onto the grid and providing power to their neighbors. Pat and Bruce are very proud of this upgrade to their home, which expresses and stands behind their values. The fact that they are saving money and have increased the value of their home is icing on the cake.
